Camping World/Lazydays

I just read an article announcing Camping World purchased 9.7 million common shares of Lazydays RV and is now acquiring seven of the Lazydays RV locations. Elkhart, IN, Murfreesboro, TN, Sturtevant WI, Woodland, WA, Surprise, AZ, one in Iowa and one in Portland. I’m not sure I like this news. I do like “window shopping” at Camping World but we purchased one RV from them and wouldn’t ever do that again. It was a terrible experience with getting some warranty work done and after it was approved, they half assed the repairs and I had to re-do them myself. That was just one of several seperate issues we had. Licensing was a huge ordeal after they supposedly lost some of the paper work and the loan was almost  immediately sold to a different loan company after we financed through them.

Interesting. Back in 2016 I went to Lazdays to purchase a Winnabago and the sales person and their finace department never called me back or answered my email. I stopped in a CW in Tampa and purchased my Winnebago Sprit. When I returned to pickit up and the salesman left for another job and didn't even contact me. Their service department was a joke. I took the rig to CW Cocoa and service wasn't worth the time and drive. I finally went to CW Kissimmee which was closer to me and finally had excellent service. In 2020 when Iupgraded to FR Class A, I had CW Kissimmee do all the upgrade and the service was excellent and I continue to go there till this day. It's a hit and miss with CW experience. Some are good and some shouldn't even be in business. Let's see how this deal works out. But I won't hold my breath. Thanks for sharing this info.

I sure wish we lived closer to Kissimmee then. The CW at Bowling Green, KY is completely terrible. Which, incidentally, happens to be their national headquarters location, not too far from the dealership. When we purchased our 5th wheel, we had them swap the new Endurance tires and rims off of our old 5th wheel that we had put on it a couple of months earlier and they agreed to put the max air vent covers on both vents and put the insect screening guards on all outside locations. That was all agreed to at the time of purchase on a Saturday. They called the following Friday letting us know it was ready for pick up. When we arrived Saturday morning they had done nothing. Zero, zippo, zilch. We got there at 7:30 am. We live almost two hours away. They finally started on those already agreed upon items around 9:30 and we didn’t get to leave with the camper until 4pm. I really should have gotten the message right then and there before taking it back for warranty work after our first trip out.

CW in Marion, NC is so bad, that is where we got our “New Suspension” and it broke on our first trip after. The man we found to weld it and fix it for us to travel told us nothing was done. There was no new suspension put on. We fought with them for material and labor as they didn’t do either, and only got 1/4 of what we paid in refund. We will never go to a CW for anything. It is good that my husband knows a lot and now have a man that did up our RV and still works on RV’s, we will call him.

Sorry to hear that.   I'm not surprised though and so many shops skip on things or just don't do what they were asked to.    Decades ago a family friend (he owned the local Toyota dealership) told me to always mark with a sharpie the parts that are supposed to be replaced, take photos, and trust nobody.   Since then I always do this if I can reach the parts (I have a sharpie on a stick just for this).. and have caught so many shops being "bad actors".

It's not always the shop itself sometimes, it can sometimes be just a dishonest mechanic working there.   I caught one charging for an oil filter, and "pocketing" the new one for himself.   But a "new suspension".. that is too big to not be the company itself.

Everytime I go into a Camping World the hackles on the back of my neck stand up... they just make me feel like I'm a chicken to be plucked.

We are not the only ones unfortunately.
