It is surprising to me that not many POW’s were from the state of NY. We actually had a family that had their son, missing in action for many years, the family were friends of ours. We always wondered if the Unknown Soldier was him.  I believe before the sister of the soldier graduated, they did finally found his body. To watch the family wonder all those years and tho he was gone, it brought them a little comfort to know he was home. Prayers and gratitude goes out to all still in service, Veterans and those we have lost.

Rest assure there are New Yorkers still missing. I always look for them whenever a new list comes out. And we have a number of them who are Medal of Honor awardees. I just read today the story of a female from Oswego, NY who was awarded the MOH and the Army revoked it, but she refused to give it back. She was restored to the MOH Roll in 1977.

After everything they go through, even the award group, why would they even do that? I do too, look for NYers to see if I know any of the families.

Thank you for posting this. It's great that you have the dedication to help military families and friends by posting this list.  It's a good reminder for all of us to realize how many gave their life for their country and family never had closure.

It's a privilege and an Honor to continue serving and helping our Brothers and Sisters who served and serving. I tried to post veterans issues and benefits information on the other site and they were pulled down and I was told it was not camping related and inappropriate. Alan is a strong supporter of Veterans and made this space. Recently, we added Canadian Forces and I am registered with the Canadian VA to receive their Newsletter to share with our Canadian brothers and sisters. I'm glad you joined us and hope to see this site grow.
