Disneyland Closing Early

Page 1 of 2Next

Disneyland and California Adventure closing times have been adjusted. They are now closing 1 hour earlier. This has been since Labor Day. For Disneyland instead of closing at midnight, they are now closing at 11 PM and for California Adventure, instead of closing at 10 PM, they are closing at 9 PM. Disney did not make any public announcement or post anything on their website. They just quietly changed the times on their calendar, and the changes are effective all the way through as far as the calendar goes, which is currently November 8th. So there is no way to know if these changes are going to stay in effect all the way through the busy season and the holiday season or if this is just a temporary change.  And without a word from Disney, there is no way to know why they made this change to the schedule. There are speculations that it could be staffing or cutbacks, but to say for certain it would just be a guess. All we can do as wait for Disney to come out with a statement or a notice of official schedule changes.

On the personal note, this is a bummer for me, because this is going to affect our trip to Disney as we're going to lose an hour a day while we are there.

My Brother and his wife are not going to be happy about this either.  They have high end annual passes and are there all the time.. generally till close.

Disney has been a bucket list for me mainly because I have never been. Kim grew up in Thousand Oaks, Ca and has been several times when she was young. This morning they raised park admission to $224 per ticket according to the news station. It just got scratched off of my list.

If it's on your bucket list, there are sites where you can still get good sales. When Chuck and I buy our tickets we buy it through a website where I'm able to buy the tickets at children's prices when they have a sale.

Wanted to go many years ago until we saw how much they kept upping the prices, especially for RV sites, at least one in Florida. So, that has been off my bucket list for awhile. Hope you all get to do it, if are. Enjoy.

We got to stay in Fort Wilderness many years back before the prices were outrageous and we really enjoyed it, but I do agree their prices are getting a little too steep. If we camp when we're going to Disney World, we like to stay at Thousand Trails and drive in using our Thousand Trails membership. We were wanting to do a trip in 2026, but we decided to put off because of the gate prices compared to what there is to do over the next year. With all of the construction, there's very little offerings because everything they shut down with so much going on with things being built and things being refurbished , they've just shut down so much of each of the parks right now. They're just wouldn't be enough to do when you balance out value for dollar. So we're gonna wait a few years until all of a construction is done. We are going to squeeze in a trip to California though where the ticket prices aren't as high and more things are open.

Craig, If your daugther is a DOD employee, she would be eligible to purchase discount tickets thru MWR.

MWR (Military Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) offers discounted Disney theme park tickets, known as the "Disney Military Salute Tickets," through participating base ticket offices or online at American Forces Travel. These tickets provide savings on multi-day and park hopper options and are valid for eligible service members and their families. A key benefit is that tickets purchased from a base ticket office or Shades of Green are often tax-free.

How to purchase and use MWR Disney tickets
  • Purchase at base ticket offices:
Visit your local MWR Tickets and Travel office to buy the tickets. You will need to show your valid military ID at the time of purchase.

  • Purchase through American Forces Travel:
You can also purchase tickets online through the American Forces Travel website.

  • Eligibility:
The tickets are for eligible service members (active, retired, National Guard, Reserve, and DoD civilians) and their spouses.

  • Ticket limit:
You can purchase up to six tickets per year, but one of the tickets must be used by the service member or their spouse.

  • Park reservations:
Note that for 2025, a park reservation is still required for the date and park you wish to visit, even with a purchased ticket.

  • Activation:
Tickets can be activated at the time of purchase or later. They do not need to be activated immediately and can be used by simply entering the park.

  • Important:
Always confirm eligibility, blackout dates, and other terms and conditions with the specific MWR office or on the Disney website before purchasing.

Here in FL both WDW and Universal have annouced price increase for their respective park. WDW just filed for permits to build an enlarged theme park. No details as to what it will be yet. I still can't beleive they shut down Avatar. That was an awesome attraction and ride.  As for needing a reservation plus park enterance ticket is to ensure not exceeding park occupancy as it was an issue in the past. When the park hits maxium capacity, you either stand around an wait for guest to depart or go to another park in it's place.

I'm finding the same thing is happening with RV campgrounds were prices have been going up since 2020 during and after the pandemic. I have seen some campgrounds now have daily ameneties fee and fee for callling in to make a reservation vs. making them on-line. Here in FL the tariff war is having an impact with Canadian Snowbirds boycotting traveling in the U.S.. I have been receiving emails from several campgrounds with weekly specials of $500.00 for a week stay, reserve two months and get one month free. I hope some of these deals are around when I get back on the road.

Wow Richard, that is very expensive for a week. I can spend that for a month in many places, but I guess if it’s in an area you really want to go, enjoy. Hopefully you will be better to get back on the road.
