Tomorrow, on National Vietnam War Veterans Day, we pause to honor the legacy of the millions of men and women who dutifully served our nation during the Vietnam War.
Decades before March 29th was proclaimed as National Vietnam War Veterans Day, a dedicated group of Vietnam veterans united to form the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF). Their goal was to create a powerful, lasting symbol of acknowledgment from the American people for those who served. That vision led to the creation of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a moving tribute that continues to honor their service and sacrifice.
While the building of the memorial was the initial mission, it was only the beginning. VVMF is steadfast in its commitment to preserving the legacies of all who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War. Through initiatives like the In Memory program, The Wall That Heals, and the Echoes of the Vietnam War podcast, VVMF continues to keep the promise to never forget.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the final casualty etched on The Wall. As we reflect on this milestone, we are reminded of the importance of preserving their stories. These narratives not only pay tribute to their sacrifice but also ensure that future generations understand the profound impact of their service.
At 1:00 p.m. ET tomorrow, National Vietnam War Veterans Day, we invite you to join us for a special tribute to Vietnam veterans as we partner with the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) for a special wreath laying followed by Taps at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The event will be live on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/vietnamveteransmemorialfund/
To all who served, we offer our heartfelt gratitude and respect. Welcome home.
Sincerely,
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund Team
