We have heard that some people we know are risking traveling in the bad weather from north to FL. We wanted to know would you? Do you reroute yourself or delay a trip so not to get into bad weather.
We try and reroute when traveling a longer distance to avoid weather in which doesn’t look good if we can. We try and always have a backup route to go to try avoid storms. Many times it works, but we usually wait. We also have a backup plan for when extreme weather comes along with other bad things, such as being caught in the TX freeze.
We knew it was coming, tho we weren’t ready for the fluxing of the electric. We planned to stay, as cold isn’t bad in our rig, but when they shut power off every hour , hour and half, then turn it back on, we were worried about furnace. Some in TX was out of electric for over a week, we had friends north of where we were, that had no electric for at least that.
We took turns staying up and turning on our heaters back on to warm us up. Thankfully it was not like that long. We have backup power now, so no worries on that. Guess it may not be something some think of, but with the weather being so unpredictable lately, we keep this in mind.
If you have to travel, be safe. If your thinking of it, but you really are in no hurry, wait it out. Be safe no matter which you do.
