Victron MultiPlus-II 12V 3kVA 2x 120V

Quote from Alan K. on 2024-08-25, 7:53 pmI decided to hurt my budget more this month. I had planned to buy the Victron Inverter/Charger in September, but went for it now. Instead of the smaller 30 Amp input unit I was originally going to buy, I got the larger unit to make use of RV parks with 50 amp 240/120 service pedestals.
It is the MultiPlus-II 12V 3kVA 2x 120V and accepts 50 amp L1 / N / L2 split phase power input to pass through on shore power. Inverting, it provides Two 120 vAC circuits output at 3kVA. As I'm not planning on using anything at 240v this works out great for my use case. It does allow for high power charging of the Epoch battery, and with it and shore power, can even supply up to 75 amps on the L1 phase using PowerAssist mode and can level out sagging RV Park power as well. And we all know how common that is.
I bought the Victron unit from Whatcom Electric & Battery who is a great Distributor / Retail company that has a LOT of stock for batteries, Blue Sea and Victron, outstanding customer service & support, and I came in under budget with them for the unit. I have put them on our MAP here so folks can find them.

Quote from Alan K. on 2024-08-30, 12:06 pmCool, maybe start a topic thread on it. Folks like to know about options. I had to go with the victron because of many design considerations, but I know there are a lot of options out there. Especially if you keep the charger and inverter separate.

How happy are you with the Renogy solar panels, and what size did you get. Solar panels are the one thing I have not decided on yet.

Quote from Brenda S. on 2024-09-23, 1:56 pmWe are very happy with our Renogy solar panels. We had 4-550 watt ones, tho a dust devil came and took one down on our back. So now we have 3 of them on top of our rig. We just purchased 4-440 watt BougeRV Arch ones, but have not put them up yet, we had them delivered to a friends house in the area where we will be going to. We went this way so if we sold our rig, we will have to leave the 3 on top but can take our new panels and our system with us. Less expense. When our “supposedly new suspension” broke (another story) it saved us, as we got stuck in Lowe’s Parking lot and had no electricity but our solar system. It saved us for three days there till we found someone to come fix us.

Quote from Alan K. on 2024-09-23, 2:38 pmSorry to hear you lost one of the panels... wind is really powerful and unpredictable. I have not yet designed the roof rack, and that is a major factor to consider in the design.
I looked up the BougeRV Arch panels.. was not aware of them or the company... but they have several things of interest to me.
Ouch on the suspension failing.. glad you found someone to help you. What process did you go through to find them?

Quote from Brenda S. on 2024-09-23, 6:10 pmThe wind was due to a dust devil. We heard sand hitting the side of our rig, then a big boom, and then we watched the twister of dirt go by. They do have a lot of gusts here. This one we hung on our back patio doorway. We had it latched down, but it was such a strong burst, it kicked it up and brought it back down so hard. Was still attached, just busted up.
Really, you never hear of BougeRV? They have been out for awhile. We actually have some of their cables for our solar. Easy hook ups and detaching.
Well when our “brand new suspension “ failed, we tried to call all the RV related repair people, stores and what ever we could find, they would not help us. Many told us that they could not work on our rig as it was in a parking lot. Some said they couldn’t due to how big our rig was, they didn’t have the equipment. We even called some tractor trailer places to see if they could help. They asked if we could go to them, we kept stating to them we were unable to move. So, after a day and half, I finally found a welder that actually works on RV and knew the issue. He was three hours away, but we were so grateful he agreed to come and at least weld us back up. He said he has worked on these issues a lot. So, after three days, we were able to hit the road. So, that’s what we did. Even with roadside assistance, no one was willing to help in the parking lot.

Seems so many places don't understand "we cannot move".. sigh. Kudos to the welder who helped you. Roadside assistance is a necessity and a gamble. I have had similar problems. I had my car battery die in the middle of winter in a parking lot. They would not help me until I got someone to tow the car with his truck into the street. Grrrr. Which roadside assistance company did you have?

Quote from Brenda S. on 2024-09-24, 9:35 amAt that time, we had Good Sam’s. They had gotten worse, we got a flat just as we were getting ready to exit, and hit blew and we pulled over off the exit up on the main drag. When we called to get help, as the police didn't like where we were (we weren’t happy either) Good Sam told us it would be close to two hours before they could get someone there. Really? While waiting, a man pulled up behind us and offered to help, he worked an hour trying to find the same tire and rim as we had, as the blowout and exit messed up our rim as well. He found one , not what we wanted, but it would at least get us off the roadway and to our next park where we could get one sent to us. So with that, we have a different Roadside program with our insurance. When ever we called GS for help, it was either hours or even when we told them how big our rig was, they never brought the right equipment. One blowout with our other rig, we actually had a state trooper in VA stop and actually helped us. We do carry our own equipment, but if I’m paying someone else to do it, they will be doing it.
