Alan, I listened to your song. You reminded me of putting John Denver and James Taylor together. Very nice. You can join us any time if you’re willing to play. Keep working on them, like to hear more.

Grin...   I was having fun with it.   Could not resist the Tree Hugging.

But between the angst while doing the lyrics, trying to balance the "feel" of the music, and the tonal qualities.... for over 13 hours over several days... I don't think I will be working on another too soon.  I will put myself out of my comfort zone on occasion, but this was very difficult for me.

I'm more comfortable writing poetry or as I like to call them word visuals, or my short stories.

Just an FYI, My favorite musical instrument is the Hurdy-Gurdy which unfortunately I don't play.

One of the best demonstrations of the power of the instrument combined with modern mixing is by Alexis Vacher in his  REQUIEM FOR A DREAM Cover - Electro Hurdy-Gurdy - Ableton Live - Vielle à roue

From Patty Gurdy where she explains the parts of the Hurdy-Gurdy

Fredrik Knudsen in The Hurdy Gurdy | Down the Rabbit Hole he talks about its uses in current entertainment, it's parts and history.

A nice TED talk by Caroline Phillips: Hurdy-gurdy for beginners

Composer Bear McCreary introduces the various sounds of the hurdy gurdy used in his score to "Black Sails."

First thing my husband asked was I talking about the song, Hurdy-Gurdy Man? So I looked up the instrument and read about it and the song. There is a band known as Eluveitie that uses them it had stated. Reminds me of the mandolin and barrel organ together. Very beautiful instrument.
