Closing down the site
Life happens... and sometimes it just gets in the way of trying to do something for the community.
Unfortunately Tark is no longer able to work, and my health has become a fair bit of an issue too. I feel bad about not having the time to work on marketing the site more, but the current state of the world (US specifically), folks are hard pressed to add one more thing to support.. be it with their time or financially.
So at the end of the month (August 31st 2026) the site will be going down. If any of you want anyone else's email to stay in touch directly, let me know and I will as their permission to connect you.
The Staff@RV-Friends.org email account will remain up and be referenced on the landing page if needed.
We really appreciate your support and trying to help with the site, and will dearly miss you all.

Alan, I understand your position. You made a sincere attempt to make the site work, but it seems the RV world has changed since COVID with the type of people who are RVing. Not as friendly or helpful.

The last five months have been a challenge with selling, buying a house. Then packing, moving, and unpacking. Then deaths in the family. Locating contractors and dealing with Government for permits. But we are almost finished. Last project is the carport for the RV. Then finally get back to a normal life.

thank you and Tark for trying hard to get this going. When I have people check it out, they unfortunately state not much discussion so they chose not to. If you would please, I would like to have your email Alan. I would like to keep in touch with you if you wish. At lease we got to meet other RVer’s and continue with those who we have already know.
I also wanted to know if there is anything we need to do as for cancelling our payment or anything when you get ready to close the site? Please let us know. Thank you for everything.
Alan, first I am sorry you and Tark are having health issues and hopefully that improves, And you are correct, Life does happen. Like Richard stated, “these last six months have been a struggle.” Besides my left eye vision loss and not being allowed to return to work, my brother-in-law, (who is more like a biological brother), has had near death health struggles, (much better now), and my 96 year old mother had a broken leg. Being off of work has actually been a blessing in the way that I have been able to help with care for both of them. It also put my own issue into perspective. I still have some depth perspective issues and always will but that is ok. Kim has taken a day shift job at the hospital that requires more hours at work and we found out yesterday that my oldest brother has a blood clot in his leg. We haven’t had much leisure and down time and I am really sorry I haven’t had time to post lately and converse with you all much. I think the explosion of apps is the only reason the site hasn’t gained members. I have several forum sites that I had gone to in the past for information. I checked and three of those four sites have not had any posts in the last six months. You and your crew put in a lot of time and effort to create the site and we appreciate you all. Just a note, all PAID memberships do not auto-renew. We have never believed in sites / vendors that do such a thing. So we would only give you a msg that your membership had expired when signing in, and give the option to re-support the site. So nothing to do, but watch the site fade into the sunset.
The industry has changed a lot, as has the internet is mostly BOTS and AI generated slop now, we real humans generating traffic are only less than 80%. It was a good try, but I can see the tar pit in the distance.. and just like the Bulletin Board Systems of the past, the time has come.
Alan, you and Tark did a great job. We thank you two for starting this up and keeping it together for us to enjoy. We too wish it was like it use to be, and we even had this discussion that it isn’t the same as it was when we started 13+ years ago full time. No one wants to meet, or just wave and say hi.
