Are You A Veteran?
After you mark Yes, is it possible to add what Branch? i.e. Yes Army This I feel will help to generate discussion amongst veterans. Something to think about.
The problem would be that the Veteran checkbox would have to be seperate from the What branch. Unless we make a pull down selection with all the branches listed.
Throw a list at me that you think makes sense and I will ponder.
Good point. Drop down would be better for the reason of searching for specific branch i.e. Army and all you would see is Army Veterans. I believe in keeping things simple, with that said, I don't think we need to specify U.S. vs. Canadian. The veterans can figure that out on there own when messaging each other. I'll defer to you as to what is easier from the programming side. Thank you for considering the suggestion.
I can put it in, but the drop down only applies to the Entry, not the search. I will move the data from Are you a Veteran to the new format for those we know. I decided to still list US / CA seperate, and there are ways to slice and dice it:
- All Veterans - enter "Yes"
- All Air Force Veterans - enter "Air Force"
- Only US Air Force - enter "US Air Force"
- All reservists - enter "Reserve"
- US Army Reserve - enter "Reserve Army"
- CA Reserve - enter "CA Reserve"
- etc..
Now my name is first on membership, but my husband is the Veteran, will I still be able to list him on this?
He already is. We think of it more as "Veteran on Board?"
We might also have the situation come up where there are two Veterans on Board with different branches... so I'll mull that one for a bit.
Mulling done. I created another set of Veteran and HAM Callsign for S.O.'s So handle it any way you want. The only problem with this of course is it makes for 2 Searches instead of just one.
BUT I might make it one again, as Check Boxes. I have known one person who was Veterans from Multiple Branches.. I will think it through more tonight.. As long as everyone has their data in already, I can fix it for everyone as needed, esp. since we only have 5 veterans so far in the system (makes it easy). This is a good exercise as it only comes up to think about when you have folks using the system.
