Happy 4th.

Quote from Alan K. on 2024-07-08, 9:52 amGrin, yeah... Reality. Sometimes overblown [pun intended]. Spent most of the days with my 60lb dog trying to be on my shoulder because of the fireworks. I'll be happy to get back to sleeping well.
I'm trying to get back to a normal schedule today.

Quote from Tink H. on 2024-07-09, 10:18 amWe spent the weekend being on edge. Living in an area that is in a burn ban and having 4th of July campers not caring too much about it and shooting off fireworks, too close for comfort all weekend long. So we were worried that any one little firework could set off a spark. I'm just glad to have the weekend over and have all the 4th of July campers gone home. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy celebrating the 4th of July, just not the way some people are careless in the way that they do it.

Quote from Richard R. on 2024-07-09, 11:25 amTink, I don't blame you at all for taking the precautionary steps to protect your home. It's sad how civility is going to the waist side. But that is todays society caring only for themselves and no one else. But we must keep the faith and never let anyone steal our dreams and joy. Have a blessed and Magical day.

We have the same problems here, but live on an Island with a FULL burn ban ... in case of a major fire (has happened in the past), there is no place to actually go. Very nerve wracking. I was up all night with Pepper (my dog) and whiffing air a lot, as there was the smell of burning green wood in the air... not the same as fireworks. We got the EMS / Fire Dept / Comm's going on the island and finally found it. Totally irresponsible. They could have taken out an entire section.

Quote from Craig P. on 2024-07-09, 12:07 pmUnfortunately common sense, curtesy and responsibility seems to be a thing of the past. I was a captain/ems first responder on our local fire dept for 25 years and we had more and more runs every year. Occasionally it was a kid not knowing how unsafe it was to hold something while lighting. But, 9 times out of 10, it was a basic lack of common sense of an adult that was the cause of the run we had gone on.
