IL, Union - Chicago Northwest KOA Holiday

Quote from Richard R. on 2024-06-12, 9:36 amWe spent 4 days here as part of our Route 66 Adventure. This is the closest KOA to Chicago and you can get there by train from nearby Crystal Lake or Woodstock to visit Chicago for sightseeing, festivals, and tours. The campground is a convenient distance to the Woodfield Mall, Prime Outlet Discount Mall, and the Grand Victoria Riverboat Casino. There is also a Walmart Supercenter close by. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a small convenience store and gift shop. I recommend you stay here when in the area.

It esp. peaked my interest when you put the "getting to Chicago" info in as well. VERY handy. I was born there, and like the idea of not having to drive into the city with my rig to visit the city. I fly in on occasion as I have some equipment on top of the Willis (Sears) Tower that I'm involved with.
My family has a long interesting history with Chicago, as they owned a lot of the property that became part of the Chicago elevated loop. Grandfather was the Harbormaster, and my Dad was captain of the Manitou, racing in the Chicago-Mackinac sailboat races.
