FL, Orlando - Thai Thani

I love me some Thai food from the time I served in Thailand. During my travels I always seek Thai Restaurants to see how close they cook their meals compared to Thailand. Thai Thani is my go to place when I have a desire for their fish cakes and Thai beer. Highly recommend eating here.

Thai food is my absolute favorite, but finding good is a task in some parts of the country.   Luckily here we have several that are good.

We went to a Thai restaurant in Kerrville, TX, but not sure it was a real one, as they were not spicy. They were more like a Chinese  restaurant with a twist.

Not all Thai food is spicy, but can be depending on the dish.

Generally if the dish is "flat" and not multi-layered flavors, it's just a knock off.  I always look in the kitchen to see who is actually cooking.  We have many like that here and in Seattle.

The ones that are real, are often mom & pop family run, and the depth of flavors will be obvious.  The best one in town looks like an old shack, and inside it is neat as a pin, and the aroma from the kitchen makes you salivate the moment you enter.    There is one in a small strip mall behind a gas station in Seattle like that too.   We used to go there every week when I lived there.

Darn it, now I'm craving good Thai food, and I'm pretty much stuck on the Island until June 18th (Car Ferry is in dry-dock).

If you are ever in Tampa, let me know, There is a very good Thai restaurant there close to Macdill AFB that will knock your socks off. I always ask for "Thai Hot" and they say are you sure? It will make your earlobes sweat! Good stuff!

I get the same expression when I ask for Thai Hot. But I always cool it down with cold Singha. When do you get back to the area?

Mucho Singha! We finish up our camp host commitment on or about 15 Sep, heading back to FL for three weeks then off to Europe for six weeks.
