What’s in store for you in the new year?
Well, it’s that time again for another new year. Hoping all are well and safe and enjoying the holidays. So, the question is what are your plans for the new year?
Marc and I only have one thing planned and still working on those plans. His daughter is getting married. So, now we have to figure everything that pertains to getting out west and to the wedding, and of course, what we are wearing. I do still have some dressed clothes, but not sure they are right for the occasion.
Other than that, we are not sure what traveling plans we are looking for. So, with that, what are you all doing in this new year?
Alan, I’m taking your working on your rig when weather gets better. What else is planned?
Richard, your surgery went well, so will think you will be back traveling some, where to?
Tink , you probably will be hitting one of the Disney’s, or something different this year?
Craig, will you two be traveling? Seeing family?
What ever you all decide, we hope you all have a safe, fun and productive new year. If we do not hear from you before then, may you all have a Happy New Year.
On my end, I am starting to look for a different place to live. Life on an Island was not on my "bucket list", it just happened. Although it is nice here and much warmer than the mainland, it is a bit of a pain.
Dealing with the Ferry schedule, it's unplanned outages (it's over 60 years old), and the exorbitant rise in ticket prices for a 5 minute crossing are becoming too much. I like to do spontaneous things, and it just is too difficult and expensive trying to do that from an island.
So, I am looking for getting back on the mainland. Hopefully I can find someplace in Whatcom County WA (technically where I am) with a lot of land for my dog to run. If that fails in a reasonable time limit, I will be looking at possibly moving down to the LA area to be near my brother and his wife.
As for the Bus, I have decided to sell it. It would have been good, but there are issues with were it will fit. If I do go down to CA it needs to be just a converted van that I can do trips in, not a huge bus.. as street parking in CA (and many places) is dicey. So I'm thinking a low roof Ford Transit that will fit in a garage if needs be. As I still had other mechanical issues to fix with the bus itself, it makes more sense to invest those funds in a smaller more city nimble vehicle that I can have as a daily driver AND for trips.
I only have two things installed in the bus that I cannot take out and will sell with it, but the rest is moving with me and can be used in any vehicle (I actually planned on that contingency from the beginning.)
It's going to be an interesting year.. looking forward to it.

Right now I have to replace all the tires due to age (DOT 18) and have been shopping around looking for something affordable and within my budget.
I will be attending the Tampa RV Show next month. As for traveling, we have not made plans as yet. We will be going on a cruise on the New Disney Ship Destiny for our anniversary in Feb. Wife would like to go back to Maine again. NOLA is another possibility. Once I get the tires, I'll have a better idea were we will go.
Oh the tires, we just had another set put on as well as newer rims. Your’s tho are much bigger than ours. Enjoy the show. If you end up heading north toward Maine, let us know.
Happy new year to you all. As for plans, we have some maintenance that we need to do on the truck. The leaf spring bumpers need to be replaced, the body mount bumpers need to be replaced, and the spray in bed liner needs to be touched up. It's just some general upkeep things to keep it running and in good condition. Aside from that our big travel plans for the year, we have a trip to Europe planned to visit Euro Disney and then we're going to visit the UK and the town that our last name gets its origin from all before we board a Disney cruise ship to take a transatlantic journey back home.
Tink, you two be careful traveling. Maintenance it one thing we all need to assure we do. Stay safe and enjoy.
We were working on sone travel plans to St Pete for late spring to see the granddaughter and one of our sons but that has gotten sidelined for the time being. I had a retinal detachment and tear on my left eye the Sunday the 3rd which left me blind in that eye. I had reattachment surgery on the 8th that the Dr said went well but we won’t know anything for 6 to 8 weeks on how much if any vision I get back. Things will he fine either way but it has changed a lot of things we have and were planning. We will figure it out.

Prayers for healing. Eye injuries can be awful. I had a severed optic nerve when I was 12. They told me then with advances in medicine they would have surgeries to repair it by the time I was a young adult. Here I am in my 50's and no such surgery exists yet. Rest up and follow all your doctors orders.
Craig, so sorry to hear about your eye. Prayers it will get back to where it is as normal as it can be. This lifestyle gives us the options to change plans for the most. Rest and take care of yourself.
